TOURIST VISA

1. Passport

  • Provide your original passport with at least six (6) months validity remaining and at least one blank visa page. Include a photocopy of the passport’s data page (and the photo page, if separate).

2. Visa Application Form & Photograph

  • Submit a fully completed and signed Visa Application Form.
  • Attach one recently-taken colour passport photograph (bareheaded, full face) against a white background (size: 48mm x 33mm).
  • You may complete the form online, print it, sign it, and bring the hard copy to the Visa Centre at the time of submission.

3. Proof of Legal Status

  • (Required for applicants not applying from their country of citizenship)
  • Provide the original and a photocopy of one of the following documents issued by the country where you are applying:
  • Residence permit
  • Employment certificate
  • Student status certificate
  • Other valid proof of legal stay

4. Previous Chinese Passports or Visas

  • Any official name change document (if your current passport name differs from the previous one)
  • Former Chinese citizens: Submit your most recent Chinese passport and a photocopy of its data page.
  • Applicants with renewed foreign passports: If your new passport does not have a Chinese visa, submit photocopies of:
  • The data page of your previous passport
  • The Chinese visa page

5. Travel Itinerary & Invitation Letter

  • Provide one of the following:
  • Confirmed round-trip flight booking record
  • Proof of hotel reservation for your entire stay
  • Travel plan written on a separate sheet
  • Invitation letter for tourism issued by a Chinese entity or individual.

If the invitation is from an individual, also provide:

  • Photocopy of their Chinese ID card OR
  • For foreign nationals residing in China: a copy of their valid residence permit and passport data page.

The invitation letter must include:

  • Applicant details: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number
  • Visit details: purpose of visit, arrival/departure dates, cities to be visited, relationship to inviter, financial arrangements during the trip
  • Inviter details: name, contact number, address, official stamp (if applicable), and signature.

Note: Flight booking records must be presented along with an individual invitation letter.

6. Additional Requirements

  • The invitation letter may be submitted as a fax, photocopy, or computer printout. The consular officer may request the original if necessary.
  • Additional documents, materials, or an in-person interview may be required at the discretion of the consular officer.
  • Final decisions regarding visa issuance, validity, duration of stay, and number of entries will be made based on the applicant’s individual circumstances.

BUSINESS / COMMERCIAL “M” VISA

1. Passport : Submit your original passport with:

  • At least six (6) months validity remaining
  • At least one blank visa page
  • A photocopy of the passport’s data page (and photo page, if separate)

2. Visa Application Form & Photograph

  • Complete and sign the Visa Application Form
  • Attach one recent colour passport photograph (bareheaded, full face) taken against a white background (size: 48mm x 33mm)
  • You may complete the application form online, print it, sign it, and bring it to the Visa Centre for submission

3. Proof of Legal Status

(Required if applying outside your country of citizenship). Provide the original and photocopy of your:

  • Residence permit
  • Employment certificate
  • Student status certificate
  • Or other valid proof of legal stay issued by the authorities in the country where the Visa Centre is located.

4. Previous Chinese Passports / Visas

  • Former Chinese citizens: Provide your most recent Chinese passport and a photocopy of its data page
  • Applicants with renewed foreign passports: If your current passport has no Chinese visa, provide photocopies of:
  • Data page of your previous passport
  • Any previous Chinese visa pages
  • Official name-change document (if applicable).

5. Commercial/Business Invitation Documents

Provide an invitation letter from your trade partner in China or the organizers of a trade fair. The letter must include:

  • Applicant details: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number
  • Visit details: purpose, arrival/departure dates, places to be visited, relationship with inviter, financial arrangements
  • Inviter details: name, position, contact number, address, official stamp, and signature .
  • Additional documents (if available): Letter of Duly Authorized Unit or Confirmation Letter of Invitation issued by relevant Chinese authorities.

6. Multiple-Entry M-Visa Applications

Applicants who:

  • Have obtained M-visas more than twice in the last two years, OR
  • Hold a certificate of investment, business license, or other proof of commercial activity in China

…may apply for a multiple-entry M-visa valid for six months or one year. Supporting documents (previous visas or business certificates) must be provided as photocopies.

7. Additional Notes

  • Invitation letters may be submitted as fax, photocopy, or computer printout, but the consular officer may request the original copy.
  • The consular officer may request additional documents or schedule an interview if necessary.
  • Final decision on visa issuance, validity, duration of stay, and number of entries is at the discretion of the consular officer, based on the applicant’s circumstance
