Tourist Visa

  • Completed online visa application form (signed in the box under the photograph on page 1 and at the end of page 2; signatures must match passport).
  • Original passport valid for at least 6 months.
  • Photocopy of passport data page.
  • Old passport(s), if available.
  • Two recent photographs (50mm x 50mm / 2″ x 2″) with a light background, glued on pages 1 & 2 of the application form.
  • Introduction letter.
  • Invitation from Indian host (with contact details and scanned copy of PAN/Aadhaar card) to be emailed directly to:

Copy to the applicant, who must attach the email printout with the application.

Business Visa

  • Two recent photographs (50mm x 50mm) with light background, glued on pages 1 & 2 of the form.
  • Original passport valid for at least 6 months (or longer if requesting extended validity).
  • Photocopy of passport data page.
  • Completed online visa application form (signed on pages 1 & 2, matching passport signature).
  • Applicant’s personal contact details including valid email ID (false/third-party emails may cause refusal).
  • Invitation letter (by name of applicant) from Indian company, sent from official company email with contact person’s mobile. Invitation must be emailed to: Abuja: cons1.abuja@mea.gov.in and cons.abuja@mea.gov.in Copy to the applicant. Printout to be attached with application. Scanned copy of Indian host company’s PAN/Aadhaar card emailed to the same addresses.

Conference Visa

  • General Information – Issued for participation in international conferences, seminars, workshops, business/board meetings in India. Requires:
  • Invitation letter from organizers.
  • Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) clearance.
  • Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) political clearance.
  • Documents Required
  • Original passport valid for at least 6 months (or longer if needed).
  • Photocopy of passport data page.
  • Two recent photographs (50mm x 50mm) with light background, glued on pages 1 & 2 of the form.
  • Completed online visa application form (signed on pages 1 & 2, matching passport signature).
  • Applicant’s personal contact details including valid email ID (false/third-party emails may cause refusal).
  • Invitation letter (by name of applicant) from organizers, sent from official organizer email with contact person’s mobile, to:
  • Abuja: cons1.abuja@mea.gov.in and cons.abuja@mea.gov.in
  • Copy to the applicant.
  • Brief summary of paper (if presenting).
  • Copies of professional degree(s) (original to be presented).
  • Original letter from employer.
  • Employment record.

Medical Visa

  • General Information
  • Granted to foreigners seeking specialized treatment in recognized Indian hospitals/treatment centres

  • Original passport t valid for at least 6 months (or longer if needed).
  • Photocopy of passport data page.
  • Two recent photographs (50mm x 50mm) with light background, glued on pages 1 & 2 of the form.
  • Completed online visa application form (signed on pages 1 & 2, matching passport signature).
  • Applicant’s personal contact details including valid email ID (false/third-party emaill may cause refusal).
  • Referral letter (typed, on hospital letterhead, stamped/signed) from a reputable Nigerian hospital/medical institute, specifying illness, diagnosis, and reason for referral to India.
  • Letter must be sent from official hospital email to HCI/CGI:
  • Abuja: cons1.abuja@mea.gov.in and cons.abuja@mea.gov.in
  • Lagos: visa.lagos@mea.gov.in and cons.lagos@mea.gov.in
  • (Suggested local hospitals include UATH, Primus, LASUTH, St. Nicholas, etc., but choice of hospital is applicant’s).
  • Invitation letter from Indian hospital (typed, on letterhead, stamped/signed) detailing treatment type and duration. Must also list attendant details and be emailed to the same addresses above. Printout to be attached with application.
  • Certified bank statement (last 3 months) or guarantee letter. If sponsored: affidavit + sponsor’s ID/passport copy.
  • For follow-up treatment: attach previous Indian hospital papers and discharge summary (original verified by consular officer).
  • Nigerian treatment records (CT scans, MRI, X-rays, etc.) with originals verified by consular officer.
  • Transplant patients: compatibility report of donor and recipient.
  • Undertaking from Indian hospital accepting responsibility for patient and attendant, including immigration, until departure. This must be included in the hospital’s invitation letter.
